Hello there everybody...

"Good Dog" is here! It is a collection of songs about dogs that I put together over the Winter. Included are songs written by myself and many other dog loving songwriters, such as Val Denn (who co-wrote Bedrock with me), Barbara Lamb, Fred Eaglesmith, Beth Williams, Bob Merrill (How much is that doggie in the window) and a gorgeous song written by Stephen Foster, called "Old Dog Tray". The CD is a tribute to "All the dogs we've loved before".....I got the idea a few years ago, when there were 5 dogs living at our little country house, and all the demo's I was doing at the time for "Out of the Blue", and "Free Little Bird" had dogs barking in the background. I thought I should do one for them, so here it is. A portion of all the proceeds will go to various dog programs around the country. Specifically SPCA, SPAY USA, and the local Ithaca free Spay and Neuter program. I will be selling at retail to anybody who wants to raise money for dog issues in their local communities.

I recorded the basic tracks in Nashville at Bill Vorndick's beautiful new studio, Mountainside Studios. I have wanted to work with Bill for years, and this gave us an opportunity. He brought in Dennis Crouch (Nashville Bluegrass Band) on bass, and Robert Bolin on guitar and fiddle. Two incredible musicians that I hope I get to record with again. The rest of the recording was done at Hiltronix's sound in Ithaca with my friend Jon Hilton. Jon has done alot of work for Sesame Street, and PBS, and got right in there and added great sound effects to the tracks, such as dogs barking, door squeaking, and babies crying. This is a cd for the whole family, as long as you like fiddles, kids and dogs.

There are many special guests, many of them members of my family and more...Vince Burns, Jeannie Burns, Jasmine Burns, Sarah Burns, Ella Varn, Roan Burns, Julie Hughes, Danny Speer, Val Denn, Barbara Lamb, Mac Benford and John Kirk. Hope you enjoy the project... Marie
